Welcome to Honeybees Class
Your teachers are Mrs Saunders and Mrs White, supported by Mrs Swinfield-Wells, Mrs O’Connor and Mrs Redford.
Honeybees Class is a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class, where we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that helps children build confidently on their first experiences of school.
As children join us from Reception, they are familiar with continuous provision and learning through exploration and play. We carefully build on these experiences, gradually increasing opportunities for more structured learning whilst maintaining an engaging and hands-on approach. This ensures a smooth transition and helps children develop the skills and independence they need as they move towards the more formal learning expectations of Key Stage 2.
Reading is at the heart of everything we do in Honeybees Class. We foster a love of books through daily reading opportunities, shared stories, guided reading sessions and carefully chosen texts that inspire and excite our pupils. We believe that strong reading skills open the door to success across the curriculum.
Children take part in daily phonics and spelling sessions to develop their reading, writing and communication skills. These sessions are carefully planned to ensure that all pupils make excellent progress and gain confidence in applying their learning across a range of activities.
We are fortunate to have a bank of iPads available within the classroom. We use technology to enhance learning across the curriculum, enabling children to develop digital skills, undertake research, practise key learning and express their creativity in exciting ways.
Honeybees Class is a happy, supportive and engaging place to learn. Children are encouraged to become increasingly independent learners whilst knowing that support is always available from teachers and teaching assistants when needed. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued and motivated, and we strive to make learning both challenging and enjoyable every day.
In Honeybees Class, we celebrate curiosity, creativity and achievement, helping every child develop the confidence and skills they need for their future learning journey.
